CNU was established in 1998 under the recommendations of 27th Ward Alderman Walter Burnett Jr. Back then, he witnessed drug dealers hosting picknicks, giving away gym shoes, and he was startled to discover that young people looked up to these negative influences.
The Stay In School Picnic was first sponsored in 1995 and the local business community supported the event and continue to support the annual event.
Our activities are possible with the long-term support and sponsorships of Comcast, ComEd, Target, Walgreens local businesses, and many more.
